Puccini's "turandot" Research

The thesis aims at the study of Turandote by Puccini. It based on Puccini - A Critical Biography that was written by a famous music scholar Mosco Carner. The author translate the chapter of Turandote of the Puccini - A Critical Biography into Chinese, combining with the China's actual research status, make a thorough, in-depth investigation on the topic for further and total research on the method of analysis and compare. The thesis is divided into four chapters as follows: From the second half of the 18th century Italian theater history, the first chapter has expatiated the Turandote source of the whole text of the source text, as well as several major changes conducted by Puccini. The second chapter begins with the angle of the exoticism, analysed the exoticism from the three aspects of melody, harmony and orchestral instrumentation, and concerned the very characteristic chorus produced by Puccini. We explains that figured the characters originality in the third chapter by analysing and comparing the music of characters. The fourth chapter analyses the musico-dramatic structure of each act.Puccini-A Critical Biography written by Mosco Carner is a book which has great academic value. The views of this book can bring inspiration to the scholars investigating Turandote in our country. This book has not been translated in Chinese yet.
