Liang Qichao Interesting Aesthetics Thought

The taste-oriented aesthetic thought is not only the main part of Liang Qichao's overall aesthetic thoughts,but also the prominent convergence of his individual style and characteristics.It is greatly influenced by his epistemology,and this paper will discuss it from the very perspective of epistemology's impact on it.The epistemology issues related to the taste-oriented aesthetic thought mainly manifest in two aspects:First,for the content level,the knowledge can be divided into two categories:Science and De Xing.The former,which is an inevitable outcome of division in traditional knowledge and society,shows the characteristics of focusing on objective evidences,system regular patterns,and applying methods.While the latter, which is connected with the non-materialization factors such as human's spirit,life, existence,emotion and will,represents the characteristics of individuality,chanciness, subjectivity,difference and uncertainty more often.To a great extent,Liang Qichao's De Xing knowledge retains the traditional awareness of respecting and enjoying the lives,as well as the universe and life philosophy of the harmony between the heaven and the human beings,which goes beyond the binary opposition way of thinking in the field of scientific cognition,and leads to the taste-oriented aesthetic life-being realm of the mixture of the subject and the object.Secondly,on the issues of the knowledge's origin and destination,Liang Qichao follows the approach of "practice-knowledge-practice",attaching more importance to the practice- the one which helps to shape,update,and improve the knowledge,thus firmly rooting the knowledge in the reality of life.Both of these aspects of Liang Qichao's epistemology have far-reaching impact on the taste-oriented aesthetic thought,and it is mostly embodied in the content and characteristics of the category named "taste".Fundamentally speaking,Liang Qichao's "taste" category is a sort of inner aesthetic experience and individual subjective feelings,so it can be classified into the dimension of De Xing knowledge.As the core content of the De Xing knowledge is to catch and reflect on human's life,and the general style and trend of Liang's epistemology are to emphasize on people's practice activities,consequently the content of the "taste" category is focused on the apperception and perception on life world,which breaks through the definition of a purely aesthetic theory,towards a broad new field of life existence and practice.The "taste" category,which is under the influence of epistemology,takes on some characteristics as spirituality, disinterestedness and focusing on experience.It attaches importance to the taste sublimation from external sensory satisfaction to internal spiritual preference,pays much attention to the pure and authentic state of aesthetic life beyond the instinctive desire,material utility,and rational calculation,and asks for the very approaches such as introspection,intuition,experience and self-practice for a life feeling and understanding.Liang Qichao's epistemology shows a distinctive consciousness of esteeming and enjoying dynamic changes,as well as a special anti-system orientation, and in the field of De Xing knowledge he continues the traditional experiencing pattern of the harmony between the heaven and the human beings,so to a great extent his taste-oriented aesthetic thought succeeds in discarding the binary opposition and ready-made way of thinking,and has inimitable status and significance in modern Chinese aesthetic history.
