One of the central issues of the medieval literature study is the famous writer Ruan Ji who lived during the period of Three Kindoms and about whom great research achivements have been made. However, there are still many deficiencies in previous studies.First, ways of analysing the features of the times between Wei and Jin dynasties has long been one-sided: putting undue stress on the unjustice of Sima Yi's taking power of Wei state, while neglecting the inexorable ascendancy of aristocratic families represented by the Sima families. Actually, during the war of contending for power against the emperor of Wei dynasty, Sima Yi gained wide support from aristocratic families, one of which member was Ruan Ji who became pro-Sima family gradually. In the paper, the author has furnished convincing proofs for this and expounded the evolution track of Ruan Ji's thoughts when taking part in political activities via studying his experience and thoughts of entering political stratum and his relationship with the Sima family.Second, previous studies of Ruan Ji are limited in the scope of Ruan Ji himself, without orientating him properly in the aristocratic social background of the Wei and Jin dynasties. In fact, aristocratic families began to develop in upward trend since the Sima family seized power, and many of them took the opportunity to forge ahead rapidly, which gained them their familiy reputations lasted for hundreds of years. The prosperity of the Ruan family, located in present Chenliu county, Henan province, started from Ruan Ji, whose sense of clan and influence to the Ruan family were all worth probing, because Ruan Ji had represented the trend of thought alteration in Wei and Jin dynasties, during which period the Confucianism was retrogressed from the doctrine of administering the state and benefitting mankind to that of protecting oneself and honouring his family, so did the motive of people' entering political stratum.Third, in former study, Ruan Ji's self-indulgent and weird behaviour were regarded as extremist reaction against the Sima family. As a matter of fact, Ruan Ji's behaviour was not only the continue of scholars' strength of character of being unconventioned and unrestrained since Eastern Han dynasty, but also the product of thought alteration in the formation of aristocratic society in Wei and Jin dynasties. To sum up, Ruan Ji's "noninterference of mundane affairs" was only specific thought in specific times. As a member of aristocratic family, Ruan Ji took part in political activities positively, and had influenced and been influenced by the Ruan family. Also he had experienced the thought alteration of his times, which was also the representation of the whole society in Wei and Jin dynasties and was worth probing.
