On Lin Yutang Promote The Literary Tradition Of Spirituality

This paper take Lin Yutang's literary activities,theoretical thinking and creative achievements from the year 1932 to 1936 as the center,from the evolution of ancient and modern Chinese literature perspective,focused on discussing Lin Yutang's inheritance and development to the late Ming XingLing literary tradition,and at the same time touch upon his Early exploration and the impact of further.Thus revealed the significance and contribution to the process of integrating modern Chinese literature into the world literature.The thesis is divided into three parts:Introduction,text(three chapter) and summary.In the Introduction,I comment all research of Lin Yutang in the past, include its main points of view and limitations,and then,articulate the perspective, the basic ideas and fundamental thinking of this paper.In first chapter we discuss Lin Yutang's activity and position of literature before 1932.In this period,Lin Yutang extremely concerned about the social and political,and join the activity actively,his prose has become the means to outspeak his thought,and a kind of form to intervene the social actual life,words fierce often, reveals a guidance Jiang Shan,inspired intellectual scholar true quality of professor. In the literary ideology,his adherence was mainly the Western expressionism,and romanticism,he advocated pay attention to personality and self-centeredness,and this was why he was able to accept and understand the spirit of the Late Ming Xingling Literature later.In second chapter we discuss what had Lin Yutang inherit from late Ming literature and what developing had he do for it.In 1932,was recommended by Zhou Zuoren,Lin Yutang met late Ming Xing Ling literature,he filled with admiration to it at once,and make western expressionism,romanticism and Xing Ling literature theory to proof each other,carried on the new explanation to the late Ming Xing Ling literature theory in terms of modern times.In addition,he also established three magazine one after another which called "Lun Yu","Ren Jianshi","Yu Zhoufeng", raised a vigorous Xing Ling literature movement in the modern literary world, expanded Xingling literature from practice.Chapter three herein start with the concrete analysis of Lin Yutang's prose, concretely announces Lin Yutang's inheriting and development of late Ming Xing Ling literature.This thesis still hopes through the entirely describing to reveal Lin Yutang's important role in modern literature and ancient Xing Ling literature tradition of communicating,and the same times affirmation for the value of Lin Yutang's experiment of looking for the outlet of modern prose by communicating with traditional literature.In the summary,I summed up all the view of this paper,and in addition,I discuss his briefly in his other works,for examlpe,My People and My Country,The Importance of Living and a prose volume which wrote in his old age named Everything Should be Talked about.
