Recently in translation studies, many reserches are apt to inspect texts from outer perspectives(i.e. using Pierre Bourdieu's Cultural Field Theory), such as political ideology, economic environment and cultural context, etc., so does this dissertation. It mainly takes Shanghai Translation Publishing House (STPH) as the study object, since STPH is one of the top presses in publishing translated literature works in China. And since the historic year of 1978, China has gone through a dramatic change in these 30 years, which can also be reflected in the publication of translation literature, the paper gives an overview of this period. The first chapter depicts the publication of translation literature from 1978 to 1986. During these years, the political ideology played a vital role in manipulating the process of publication. Though the Culture Revolution ended in 1976, its negtive impact didn't fade away until 1978. Ever since that year, China, including the publication of translation literature, has recoverd from the disaster gradually.'Classics of Foreign Literature'and'Foreign Literature of 20th Century'are the two fruitful series during these years, and the paper analyzes them as representatives. The second chapter gives a review of the publication of translation literature in the years between 1987 to 1991. It was a transitional period, during which, the political ideology loosed its control of translation publication, while the market economy began to be powerful and influential. The paper takes two editions ( hardcover and papercover) of'World Famous Literature'as an example, analyzing the challenges brought by the market. The third chapter analyzes the publication of translation literature ever since 1992, in which year, market economy gained a politically legal status in China. It dramatically changed people's mind and the readers'reading expectation. The thesis tries to find reasons that why the series of'Murakami Haruki Works'has won a great success in the book market. The Conclusion argues that all the factors influencing the publication of translation literature are interactive, and they can not be departed absolutely.
