Sketchbooks National Literary Tradition In The Contemporary Novel Writing

The so-called New Biji is a unique type of fiction which spreads a charm of Chinese ancient Biji. It emerged in the early 1980's, lasting for about twenty years with plenty of writers who worked hard on it in the Chinese literature field. It not only is a phenomena of the literature diversities in the new decades, but also has deep historical traditional origins.There are four chapters in this thesis, which analysis the art character of the New Biji based on the national literature traditions. In my opinion, the New Biji absorbs not only the Chinese ancient Biji, but the whole Chinese literature traditions which mostly contain the history and poetry traditions. The New Biji inherits from the Chinese literature tradition structurally, materially and aesthetically. Meanwhile, the thesis demonstrates that this type of fiction enriches the modern fiction concept and provides a model how literature tradition transforms into modern literature.
