Based on the investigation and analysis on the existing carved polychrome lacquer ware workshop,the author acquired a detailed understanding of the current situation of the traditional lacquer making technique in Xinjiang County.This traditional technique has formed a sort of attitude and wisdom during its thousands years of inheritance,which represents certain humanity spirit that has been lost in modern industrial society and the information era.Since the traditional handicrafts of lacquer ware making in Xinjiang County is an important part of Chinese cultural heritage,research and discussion on it has realistic significance.The thesis mainly discusses the origination,development and prosperity of the traditional carved polychrome lacquer technique, and researches on its process,designing idea and artistic features.Through the comparison between the traditional handicrafts and its present situation,the author summarizes its features, seeks its development principles in an effort to offer help to the inheritance and development of the handicraft.The first chapter introduces the subject background,significance,research approach as well as the current research situation.The second chapter briefly illustrates the ancient Chinese lacquer technique and the carved polychrome lacquer technique.The third chapter discusses the inheritance and development of the carved polychrome lacquer technique in Xinjiang County, and introduces its designing ideas and technical process.The fourth chapter focuses on the advantageous resources of the carved polychrome lacquer technique in Xinjiang County and the possibility of its transformation.The inheritance and development of the technique are also discussed.The last chapter summarizes the whole thesis,lists the features of the technique and concludes the subject.
