The Bali masks in Indonesia are well-known for the rich and colorful culture in the world. The Balinese mask dance has a unique position in the world dance art as well. The Balinese masks were created by Bali people during their work and life and show the wisdom of Bali people. With the heritage from generation to generation, the Bali masks have become the local typical traditional crafts. As the Chinese masks have the same historical characteristics as the Bali's, the Chinese Nuo masks have been put into the first 'Non-material cultural heritage protection name list' in 2005. However with the development of the Chinese economy and culture, few people are willing to pass on the Chinese masks.With the vision of the educational anthropology, the thesis analyzes the heritage status of the Bali masks in Indonesia, so as to explore the effective heritage ways. After researching advantages of school educational and non-school educational heritage, the aim of the thesis is to introduce masks into school education and find a better way to pass and protect it.The author utilized many kinds of methods, such as literature methodology, interviews and so on. The thesis is divided into six parts: the introductory remarks, four chapters and the concluding remark, mainly specifically launching the elaboration from the following four aspects.By observing the Bali masks in Indonesia, the first chapter discoursed the masks' origin, development, evolution, making and the cultural artistic characteristics. The second chapter embarks the illuminated educational function of the individual and the social from two angles of the Individual and social view.The third chapter, by observing masks school education and non-school education in Bali, Indonesia, defined clearly Bali masks school inheritance situation.In the fourth chapter, by the comparative analysis of history, development, classification, function and status of Chinese masks, the author draws the inspiration from Bali masks school education and learns it.
