"Human dignity" is a word that has a long history and rich connotation. It has different references in different fields which can be conclued in many ways from different respectives. It has been universally accepted by each field and widely used, although which has no a clear and uniform definition .Undeniably, each individual should obtain his human dignity only for the fact that he himself is human being. The demand for the dignity lies in realizing the most effectively safeguard for himself. It reflects the universal need of mutual respect among people. The history of human developing is a process for people to purse his own life-style, recognize self-worth and dignity constantly and defend.This dissertation is based on theory of three social orders proposed by Marx, focus on human being living conditions in different historical periods. It explores and thinks the history and current lever of dignity absence up to now. It proposes, human being has no dignity in traditional society and modern industrial society, Human being will not obtain the really free and graceful dignity unless they are in the unit of free man.The main body of the dissertation contains 5 chapters, which can be divided into 3 parts:The first part: It is first two chapters. It does some forehead work, outlines the main content of the human dignity and probes the developing history of the concept of western traditional dignity. The purpose lies to have a further understanding of the human dignity.The second part: chapter 3 and chapter 4, are the main body of this dissertation. It analyzes the reasons of living conditions and dignity absence of the primary society, traditional agricultral society and modern industrial society, focusing on criticizing relevant free-living defect and dignity absence of human, believing modern industrial civilization process makes the free-living of human possible. It turns the living purpose from outside world to individual itself, only to the need of individual perceptual desire, over-stimulating and encouraging the people to purse realistic benefits, ignoring the satisfication and developing of human mental need, also, it intensifies the conflicts between human and nature, among people, making people the slaves of the subject and go farther away from dignity-living. Only if human being gets fid of unilateral developing pattern, sticking to moderate development and moderate consumption, can we obtain real free and respective living. We should focus on not only material civilization creation, but also spiritual civilization creation, paying more attention to pursing infinite mental outlook, strenthening moral mastery, enriching personal characters and pursing all-round development of the individual.The third part: that is chapter 5. According to "realistic people", Marx proposed "the unit of the free man", an ideal society all human being can live in with real dignity. This ideal society is real relapse to human nature, a completely overpassing to modern people's living condition without dignity. It ensures everyone live respected and honorable living.Finaly, summarise the whole, point out direction of human respective living in Chinese socialism.
