| "Ten thousand quatrains in Tang Dynasty by Hong-Mai"is the first time to do a large scale quatrains collection and revising in Song Dynasty. It is a very important sylloge of Tang poetry.This paper aims to make a tentative analysis of this anthology and investigate its position in the evolution of the anthologies.The first part combs the different editions of the anthology and investigates the change of the anthology in the long history.The second part analyses the condition of the selection and edition in order to make a pertinent comment on original materials using and gives a logical conjecture of the intention of the anthology.The third part looks the book as a method of literature critique and places the book in the development of the anthologies in the history of Chinese culture and poetry.The fourth part researches into the comments and influence in the latter dynasties and elucidates the relationship of comments and poesy- ethos.The conclusion summarizes the value of the anthology and gives a comprehensive and impartial appraisal to the book. |
