To understand correctly the integration of the ideological system in The Book of Changes is the key o solve issues of Yi Science, also the base to re-knowledge the Chinese traditional culture.The Modern New Confucianism laid great stress on The Book of Changes, with the interpretation of which they have elucidated their philosophical ideas. From modern philosophical concepts and issues, they gave priority to the explication of the cosmology, ontology, theory of life, theory of human nature, theory of the attainment of lofty life realm, axiology embraced in The Book of Changes, and the relationship between them. At the same time, they confirmed the distinctive differeces between Chinese and Western philosophy. As a result, they reestablished ontology and cosmology of Chinese philosophy and proved the significance of the communion between transcendence and immanence, and the unity of virtue between heaven and human. In all Modern New Confucianism, Mou Zong san's Yi Science has exerted great influence, he takes "attaining to the state of profound and miraculous transformations" as the core of his moral metaphysics, in general,it has been divided into two parts:Yi Science in his early years and Yi Science in his old years.Mou Zong san's mainly based on Jiao Xun's Yi Science and Hu Xu's Yi Science in his early years. Jiao Xun is celebrated for his being well versed in Yi Science, He has established not only the methodology for the studies of the Yi Science but also a philosophical significance depended mainly on the theory of Pang Tong. Hu Xu was a Yi-ologist who had unique understangings on Yi Science. Basing himself on adequate textual researchers and perceptions on Yi Science,he established a set of sophisticated philosophy of generation, which is significant both in interpreting the Text and Commentaries of The Book of Changes and explicating its philosophical implications. His assertion that hexagrams Qian and Kun produce the other sixty two hexagrams and each hexagram has one or two ruling lines comparatively clarifies the formation and transformation between the hexagrams and lines. It is of great value in the history of the Yi Science.Mou Zong san's views on Yi Science in his old years are different from those in his early years. In his old years, he stresses that Yizhuan contains confection connotations and developed the dialectical thinking mode conceived in Yi Science, and mainly devoted himself to the two hexagrams of Qian and Kun. Then he raised the principle of "dual emphasis on both Qian and Kun", by which the attribute of creativity was embodied by the originality of Qian within which the overall Confucian virtuous metaphysics resides, while the originality of Kun embodies the attribute of completion, which conceives Confucian virtuous cultivation and conducts.The principle of simplicity is also an important factor in the "dual emphasis on both Qian and Kun", for it reveals the method of virtuous cultivation and established the important of virtuous practice. Being the collective embodiment of Confucian metaphysics, the coexistence of the transcendental of and innate summarizes the general characteristics of The Book of Changes and Confucian wisdom.In short, purpose for Mou Zong san to study Yi Science was to discover and interpret Chinese philosophical thoughts in Yi Science, aiming at digging out Chinese metaphysics and moral philosophical model of logic symbol for interpreting The Book of Changes and worked out a first beneficial attempt at the modernistic interpretation of Chinese classics thoughts. His analyses and interpretions of Yi Science were also much of formal logic. And The Book of Changes world of logic or world of symbols became a semantic world of axiology or The Book of Changes as a numerical and physical world became a moral world of axiology in his analyses and interpretations.
