Gansu - Ningxia Border Region's Religious Policy Research

As a very important social cultural phenomenon in human history, the religion problem is a kind of social affairs which all the governments must face and solve. In history, make a general survey of the religious policies and religious affairs whether or not are reasonable and effective, which both are important factors for the social development and stability. At the beginning of the Chinese Communist Party's establishment, the Party begin to explore the solution of the problem of religious policies. During the Anti-Japanese War, the Chinese Communist Party developed a series of mature religious policies based on the reality and war in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region, such as the religious freedom policy, flexible religious land policy, the policy of treating western church and foreign missionary, and the policy of combination with the religious circles to build Anti-Japanese national united front, etc. In actual work, the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region government adhered to use the policies flexibly. Every policy considered overall the interests of the different strata. And according to the situation changes, the Party adjusted the specific content of religious policies constantly. The reasonable religious policies not only promoted the national solidarity and the social stability, and enhanced the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region government's cohesive force and the central force, but also consolidated and expanded the Anti-Japanese national united front, which gathered an important social force for the victory of the Anti-Japanese War. The religious policies of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region during the Anti-Japanese War, had laid a solid foundation for new China's religious policies, and had provided abundant historical significance. Based on the historical data, this paper tries to carry on a systematical comb on the religious policies of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region during the Anti-Japanese War; and tries to make an analysis of the government's religious policies formulated by the historical background, evolution process and effect,which can help us to gain precious wealth of history.
