Doris Lessing's Works Relationship Of Women

Doris Lessing (Doris Lessing 1919-), Nobel Literature Prize Winner in 2007, is a bright rising star of English literature in 20Century.She showed the living conditions of women and women's destiny in her works,who is revered as a feminist icon and the grandmother of the English literature, and is called "Double Star" with Woolf.As a female writer, Lessing's works are full of careful description and characterization of all kinds of female relations. This article aims to explore female relations preliminarily in Lessing'works such as The Grass Is Singing, Children of Violence Series, The other Woman, The Diaries of Jane Somers. Not only positive description of the relationship between women, but also the negative description are involved in her works,which is described as Lessing's unique.In the first chapter, the writer sorts out all kinds of female relations in these works,and analyses women in "positive" world and "negative" world from comparative angle.And then points out that the "soft-violence" exists in the relatinons of women.In the second chapter,from psychological and feminist perspective,explains the reasons why negative female relationship exists,based on the theories of Phyllis Cheslerand and Betty Friedan.In the last chapter, prospects the future of female relations. Although the negative relationship between women exists objectively, the construction of harmonious female relations is not a distant dream, as long as we can change our attitude and our thinking. This is also what Lessing want to tell us to us in her works.
