Edgar Allan POE is the short novelist, poet and literary critics of 19th-century American. He has a special position in the American literature history and makes a formidable contribution for American literature and the world literature. He was the first American writer who writes really gothic novels, and he was also the first writer who expounded this gothic novel theory systematically and convincingly. The research on Ellen Poe of western academic has been a century and a half, many literary genre bring POE'work into their theoretical framework to research, this makes research field are more open, and presents interdisciplinary diversity. Under the influence of modernism and postmodernism, the slope of POE attention while also increasing by domestic scholars, but the domestic research on Allen POE mostly stay on the introduce of writers and works and the text analysis. The research perspectives confined to slope the theme and creative skills of repetition has been recognized. There is no research on the relationship between Poe's fiction and traditional gothic novels from the angle of history. This paper will take Poe'horror fiction for research object, use comparative literature study and accepting effect study to study the retention and development of Ellen Poe'horror fiction to the traditional gothic novel from the choice of subject, the psychology of terrorism, reveals the profound evilness, and narrative skill of innovation aspects. Put Allan Poe's works in the gothic literary tradition to study. This can better understanding the Poe' innovation and beyond of the contemporary writers.
