Mainland Policy Toward Taiwan And The United States And Taiwan Responses From The Two Taiwan Strait Crisis

After the Korean War, the U.S gave up the ambiguous policy toward Taiwan and adopted a policy which could interfere the affair of Taiwan and contain China.After the failure in China's civil war, Jiang Jieshi Clique got to taiwan, expected to attack the mainland with the help of the U.S. So due to the advantages of the two, USA and Taiwan enhanced the cooperation of military affairs after the Korean War had finished. In this situation, the leader of the mainland put forward the principle of "The minutely Liberation of Taiwan" and put an order of shelling Jinmen. The First Taiwan Strait Crisis broke out. At the same time, the mainland launched a campaign of the island of Yijiangshan, making the military of Jiang Jieshi Clique retreat back Taiwan, the mainland has liberated some islands. During the war, USA wanted to persuade Jiang Jieshi to make a retreatment of Taiwan from Jinmen, Mazu in order to form "Two Chinas". The contradiction between USA and Taiwan has created.In order to relax the tense situation the First Taiwan Strait Crisis had brought, China explained her policy to neighboring countries through the Bandung conference, and offered a proposal of peaceful talking. Because of the opposite position, the talk had no substantial progress, though provisionally relaxed the tense of Taiwan Strait Crisis. After the First Taiwan Strait Crisis, the leader of the mainland considered Taiwan problem again and put forward a new principle of "The peaceful Liberation of Taiwan". But as a result, USA and Taiwan were not interested in this policy, they made more military cooperation instead. Because of these, shelling Jinmen was determined again by the mainland so as to know the relationship and contradiction between USA and Taiwan. In the Second Taiwan Strait Crisis, the mainland adopted a new policy, helping Jiang resist USA and opposed "Two Chinas"or "One china,One Taiwan" with Taiwan together. This shows that all Chinese people have the same thoughts when we face the "one China" problem.
