This paper focus on the definition of the connotation of an enterprise's core competence. Basing on all kinds of existing theories in this field and combining some basic theories on Management, Marketing and Economics, here we bring up a new pattern of the definition about the connotation of the core competence, since there is still no standard in the circle. We apply the ways of reasoning, talking with people and surveys, and then prove them according to the unity of the theory and practice. The following are the main points we get:1. An enterprise's core competence includes basic competence, quasi-sub-core competence, Sub-core competence, quasi-core power and core competence.2. The period of core competence is the highest one in an enterprise's development, and enterprises can reach it by improving its own quality.3. Elements, like resource, knowledge, technology, management, marketing and an enterprise's own culture, can have great effect on the core power.4. we can see which period an enterprise is in by evaluating the above seven elements.
