Study Of International Competitiveness Of China's Service Trade

In the past 20 years since the world come into service economy era, trade in services supported by economic globalization has been developed quickly. With its overwhelming total volume of import and export, service trade has become an integral part in international trade.China's accession to the WTO in 2001 was a strategic step for the country to open further to the outside world. From then on, China may participate in the international competition on trade in services on the basis of the multilateral trading system which has been strictly observed by all the WTO mumbers. Facing the fierce competition on international trade in services, studies on China's counteraction are essential for enhancing overall national strength.My paper includes three sections:1. Competition theory on trade in services. Developed theory of international trade has mainly focused on trade in goods. But for trade in services, we need a systematic theory frame. After deeply comparative analysis on service trade and trade in goods, this dissertation has come to the conclusion that the existing developed competitive theory can be used on service trade.2. China's current situation of competition on service trade. Using actual and concrete evidence, this dissertation indicates that China is comparatively weak on most of service sectors.3. Strategic suggestion which made for facilitating the development of tertiary industry and service trade include two aspects:(1) Structure adjustment on tertiary industry on the basis of comparative advantage, (2) further measures to build macro-environment for development of tertiary industry and service trade on the basis of competitive advantage.
