This paper takes Shanghai metropolis as an example and makes a positiveresearch on the location of bank nodes in Shanghai's urban center. There are sixchapters in this paper.Chapter1 describes the concepts of service, financial business and banking. Andthe objectives, purpose, the measures are sketched.Chapter2 summarizes analysis relative literatures in China and overseas, including the research from the geographic point of view on the financial problems, the relation between urban inner spatial structure and banking, the studies on the banknodes'location, allocation of commercial nodes and location theory of retail business.Chapter3 summarizes the theoretical foundation and principles of urban banknods location. Central place theory, location theory, relevancy theory and urban rentstheory are theoretical basis of bank nodes allocation. There are several principles inbank nodes allocation, including cost-least principle, benefit-maximum principle,supply-demand principle.Chapter4 makes a study on the conditions of bank nodes in the central zone ofShanghai. The characteristics of location of bank nodes in the central zone ofShanghai are as following. Agglomeration is obvious , and core-region,mid-regionand the outside region are showed. It is related to business and bank nodes locatemainly in the four shopping centers and the dwelling-level shopping center. Banknodes of different level and foreign capital banks'nodes each have their locationcharacteristics. Based on the above, position, population, enterprises, business flux, public service traffic, urban planning, policy and inner factors are considered assignificant location factors. Founded on the above, several problems in the bank nodeslocation are suggested.Chapter5 theoretically explains the conditions of the location of the bank nodesand forecast the trend. Based on the Shanghai'economic development foreground, urban development objectives, urban spatial planning on the urban location and thelevel of informationalization, the author suggests that the traditional physical functionof nodes will be adjusted while high-level nodes will be transformed as sell center offinancial production and clients'financing center, and lower-level nodes will bereplaced by the ATM,self-help banks and "the bank in shop", and community-basenodes aiming at the individual retail business will spring up. Although virtual nodes isa challenge to the traditional physical nodes, it is impossible to replace the traditionalphysical nodes, and that the two are harmonically developing will be a long-termexisting trend.Chapter6 summarizes the problems posed and solved in this paper, and the detectand the application of this research in the financial field are suggested.
