The issue on the relationship between trade and environment became the center of attention of the international society. The circles of trade, environment and legal cast their sight on environmental labeling, which is one of the junctions of trade and environment, and people have different opinions on the merits and demerits of environmental labeling. This thesis mainly from the legal regular aspect, has analyzed the legal system related environmental labeling in the WTO Agreement. After that, the thesis remarks the practices in china and constructive suggestion are followed.This thesis has four chapters. First mentions from the environmental labeling elementary theory, the author has discussed the definition and classification of environmental labeling, and also analyzed the environmental protection function and international trade influence of environmental labeling. This is the content of chapter Ⅰ . In chapter Ⅱ, the author focuses on the impacts of WTO stipulations on environmental labeling. These stipulations involve the regulations in GATT1994, TBT Agreement, and SPS Agreement. Both the stipulations and GATT/WTO cases are used to analysis the actual situation of environmental labeling under WTO law frame. On the foundation of from chapter, the author points out the present problems in the multilateral trade system in chapter Ⅲ,and give a conception to solute those problems in the future. In the last chapter, the author has summarize the current practices of environmental labeling in china, and make some suggestion to establish and strengthen the law system of environmental labeling in china which adapted with the WTO rule.
