Xi'an Migrant Women Concept Of Marriage And Family

With the speeding up of China's social transformation and the promoting of industrialization and urbanization, China's social mobility increases obviously and migrant workers are all over the country. Before the reform and opening up, the moving way of rural women is to get married and to migrate following their husbands. In recent years, this changes very much, which is not only the number of women in migrant workers increases, but also they work in cities for changing their lives. They live and work in cities, exchange and interact with city residents, which make their views of marriage and family have great changes. In this background, this article launched the research on the marriage and family values of women rural workers in Xi'an. This article investigated their some views of marriage and family using empirical methods, and found the existent problems through the analysis of their present situation, then analyzed the reasons which caused these problems according to their special environment and time characteristics. At last, this article put forward some targeted suggestions and countermeasures. To the views of migrant women as the breakthrough point, this paper investigated their living conditions and emotional experience, and looked into their survival environment (such as economical environment, political environment, values environment and so on);this paper puts forward relative countermeasures in order to help them establish a healthy view of marriage and family, tries to improve their values in order to change their attitudes and conditions, which finally will narrow the gap and promote the harmonious development between city and countryside.Full text is divided into 4 chapters.Chapter 1 is the introduction, which introduces the background and significance of this research, the research status of home and broad, relative concept definition and the ideas and methods of this research. In reform and opening up, and the social mobility background, female migrant workers flood into cities, which academia launched a number of studies on. Not only domestic scholars research on it, foreign scholars also participated in relative research. This article launched the study on the marriage and family value of female migrant workers in Xi'an. It analyzes the situations and problems of their values from the gender perspective, family research perspective, and social mobility perspective, and puts forward relative and constructive countermeasures.Chapter 2 is the investigation result on the marriage and family values of female migrant workers in Xi'an. The survey revealed that migrant women more inclined to choose a spouse who has a good character, their marriages are more decided by themselves, their ideal marriage age obviously postponed, and most people can accept premarital cohabitation in psychology, but more people can't accept premarital pregnancy, female family status rises but still less than male, most people can't accept extramarital love affairs, but support the aged married, more people are willing to have 2 children, and like boys slightly.Chapter 3 is the analysis of reasons and problems of the marriage and family values of female migrant workers. According to our investigation and analysis, migrant women are not self-confident because of their limited conditions; their marriages are independent comparatively, but still are influenced by their parents; they have more open concept about sex, and premarital cohabitation is common; more people are willing to have 2 children, and like boys slightly. Multicultural values coexist in the period of social transformation; dual system limits the development of migrant women, and they lack social security; their communication with male is difficult and their romantic lives are uncertainty because of the narrow communicational space in cities; their parents'pensions in hometown are also their concerns. All these are the reasons which resulted in the problems of their marriage and family values.Chapter 4 is the suggestions and countermeasures according to the investigation and analysis. This part puts forward measures from 3 aspects. First, the government should perfect the social security system, deepen the reform of the dual system, reduce population flow barriers, and strengthen the government train and management of migrant women. Second, the society should strengthen the construction of the community, founded the migrant community, establish the service station of family planning for the migrant women, and establish the contact platform between the migrant workers and the citizens. Third, the media should continue to promote the healthy marriage and family values, and take the essence and discard the drags from the traditional thoughts.At last, it is the epilogue. It evaluates this research objectively. This research enriched for the theoretical study of migrant women, but it lacked comparative study, which is the direction of our future study.
