Since2008, the Ministry of Education and the People’s Government of Tianjin and other23ministries and commissions have hold the first National Vocational Students skills Competition, the Competition has become a routine and Tianjin becomes its host city. The skill competition has exerts great effect on improving vocational education. It has been held successfully for six times and a lot of vocational students have won the golden medals. With The development of the National vocational Students skills competition, on one hand, it had a double influence on the vocational education teaching quality. On the other hand, the medalists’career development has become an important issue, while whose theoretical study is still in a initial stage. Due to the need of both the reality and theory, researchers are eagerly demanded to enter the group of vocational students, to explore their truly condition and contribute to the reform of the National Vocational Students skills Competition and the sustainable development of vocational education.Based on a large number of documents and analysis, the author extract52golden medalists who have worked for three years in Tianjin, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Henan and Guangdong, to be the participants. On the basis of literature research and related theoretical achievements of occupation adaptation, a questionnaire consists of psychological adaptation, occupational skill adaptation, relationship adaptation and career environment is made to conduct an empirical study on the occupation adaptation of the winners of the contest, the results of the study shows that:1.Occupation adaptation of the golden medalists is above the average level. They especially excel at relationship and skill adaptation, while a little weak in psychological and environment adaptation.2.Occupation adaptations of the golden medalists varies according to their genders, places where they accepted education, employers and salaries, while no significant difference of variable factors such as schools, how closely related is their work to their specialized field and years of service is detected in the light of the statistics.3.There are various factors that affect the occupation adaptation of the golden medalists of the National vocational Students skills competition, which mainly lie in gold medalist personal expectations and the reality gap, the chasm between vocational education and enterprise requirements, the enterprise does not pay attention to technical workers of career development and the social public opinion biases, Suggested that higher vocational colleges "employment oriented","operation skills as the core" reform in higher vocational colleges training mode, improve the professional skills contest mechanism, leading the education teaching reform in higher vocational colleges, at the same time hope gold medalist completes the career planning, enterprise attaches great importance to the technical personnel’s career development, etc.
