The author discovers that the broad social environment in which respecting for and caring women is ubiquitous can generate quite significant impacts on facilitating the diversity and impartiality of gender equality in education in the wake of personally experiencing the "gender-friendly" social environment in Taiwan area. Through adopting literature analysis and interview, this paper first analyses systematically the process of development of gender equality in education in Taiwan, and then completely demonstrates how the setting of gender equality in education was constructed and evaluates the impact of the development of gender equality in education on family, schooling, and society in Taiwan. Finally, some lessons and best practices are generalized from Taiwan’s gender equality in education at the end of this paper. This thesis hopes to help the scholars and the public in China Mainland deeper and better understand the gender equality in education in Taiwan and to promote the development of gender equality in education in Mainland by borrowing the Taiwan’s successful experiences.This paper is based on the theory of social gender and equality of education opportunity. First, practical processes of gender equality in education in Taiwan are investigated through analyzing the literatures concerned. Second, it discusses how legal system protecting the gender equality in Taiwan was built; Third, it explains how the social setting of gender equality in Taiwan was formed; Fourth, the ways by which schools construct campus culture of gender equality are explained; Finally, it investigates what are the influences of the gender equality in education on social education, school education and family education in Taiwan.Research results show that women organizations and public sectors together drives to establish the independent and complete legal systems protecting gender equality, and to erect special administrative departments responsible for the development of gender equality; gender mainstreaming lays the strong foundation for the realization of gender equality in education; reform of curriculum, teaching materials and campus culture is the main dynamic of the formation of "gender-friendly" environment in Taiwan; gender equality is commonly valued by the public of Taiwan, for example, higher consciousness of gender equality between teachers and students, no significant difference in attitude of the family towards investment in education by gender; the formation of gender equality remarkably improves women’s education level and quality of life, which in turn facilitates further the gender equality in education. Although it is true that in Taiwan area, there exist some flaws in gender equality in education, we can still benefit a lot from its successful experiences in the process of promoting the gender equality in education in Mainland.
