In recent years, with the popularization of personal computer, tablet computer, intelligent mobile phone and other portable mobile devices, the way people get information has been becoming more and more diverse and convenience. At the same time, a new way of learning is gradually popular-micro learning. This study emphasizes the fragmentation and miniaturization of the learning content. It uses a new kind of learning resources of good flexibility and small amount of information as the core. The new learning resources focus on Teaching important points, difficult points, test, etc. The camera recorded and then made it into a short video tutorial. It uses the network for the students to use repeated. The researchers call this instructional video "micro video".This study was inspired by micro learning, on the basis of long-term practice of visual culture course. Firstly, the author investigated the needs of the visual culture course learner, then combined it with the actual of the course content to select the specific knowledge, and designed it into micro video for the learner to use to meet their individual needs of learning. This paper absorbed and referred the experience of scholars in the micro learning theory and practice, started from the learning resources and the learners’needs of the visual culture course, leaded the feasibility of micro video design of the visual culture course, formulated the general objectives of the design of micro video visual culture course. Based on the cognitive load theory, it take the micro learning theory as the foundation, referring to some research results in the visual psychology theory, developed the five elements (including the subject selection, objective construction, content organization, media presentation, evaluation and feedback) of the micro video design of the visual culture course. According to the specific teaching content of visual culture course, Author selected three cases such as "the definition of visual culture","semantic triangle of the visual culture" and "the signified level diagram", and designed it. Then started the preliminary practice of cases, and collected and analyzed the data on practice. The pros and cons of design were evaluated. According to the results of the evaluation, author corrected and adjusted the design.Practice has proved, the micro video design of the visual culture course is an effective attempt to theory and practice. As a design of learning resources, the analysis of the learners’ needs is the guarantee of an effective micro video design, a clear total objective of design is the starting point and destination of micro video design. Detailed design elements to provide effective way for the implementation of the design, also is the core of the study.
