Research On The Application Of Psychological Counseling In The Work Of Counselors In The New Situation

Since full-time counselor position was set in Chinese higher education institutes in1961, educationists have done a great job exploring and researching in this area of the counselor’s dutyfor more than50years. Ranging from the educational policies required by country to the academic researches, the importance of the counselors in higher education institutes has been drawing a great attention as the implementation of reforming and the opening up policy. At the beginning of the80’s, educationists adopted psychological theory and methods into the high educational system especially to integrate with ideological and political education that was not only helping to extend teaching thoughts in ideological and political education itself, but also expanding knowledge about mental health for students as well as to the effect of ideological and political education a great success. As the development of scientific technology, the furious talent completion goes on, however, counselors in higher education institutes are facing a great challenge. Being one of the practical educationists that will face new requests of ideological and political education with the new challenge of different individuals in counselor’s new situation. In order to integrating with education, management and service, more scientific theories and methods are needed to an efficient level.Object-orientated is the core concept of psychological counseling, which is commensurate with one of the main modernized concepts of worldwide higher education——education is to realize humanization. Higher education is not only focused on student’s intelligence, but also cultivating individual’s all-round personality premise on student-centered. All in a word, individual-orientated. The individuals with whom counselorsare facing are desperately needing understanding, support, education, management and instruction from counselors when they are in their adolescence. However, these needs are required to obey the laws of higher education and university students’somatopsychic. Fortunately, theory and technology of psychological counseling indeed follows the rules and it can be fully applied into the management and service of counselor’s duty. This thesis elaborates three aspects that are ideological and political education, students’routine work and students’services. The core of this thesis is how to apply psychological theory into all these three aspects through which counsellors’ideological and political education, working target and profession will be enhanced to realize the goal of all-round develop for students as well as their adaption to the new challenge.The thesis starts with five new challenges with which counselors are confronted. They are the new requests the Ministry of Education requires, which makes the duty focused on different aspects. Meanwhile, counselors are also facing individuals with their various physical and psychological health. Combined with its current situation, existing problems and the concept itself, counselor’s duty is divided into five aspects, education, management and service. In order to improve effectiveness and profession for education, psychological counseling theory and technology is suggested to apply in these aspects. At last, this thesis also brings forward methods to improve counseling theory and ability based on the analysis on the effectiveness of the counselor’s counseling.
