Basketball is one of the majority of students are willing to participate in sports activities, is the main content of teaching high school physical education teaching, is one of the all-round development of the students’ physique manner. Investigation and Study on the development of high school basketball in Zhengzhou City, this paper will help to understand the process of the present reform of senior high school new course, provides the theory reference and the basis for improving the level of the basketball sports in Zhengzhou city.This study used the method of literature, questionnaire survey, expert investigation, logical analysis and other methods, the present situation of Zhengzhou city high school basketball teaching; current situation of extracurricular basketball activities in Zhengzhou city high school; study Zhengzhou city high school basketball team after-school training and competition status. The survey results showed that:1 PE teachers in Zhengzhou city basketball team of teachers is reasonable, the students’ spare time basketball in high enthusiasm.2 the reform of basketball teaching can not be carried out smoothly in Zhengzhou city high school sports teaching, the teacher with the students is more, the daily teaching and training venue can not meet the needs of students, comprehensive quality and professional skills of basketball coaches and ascension space. The 3 schools are able to provide the training and competition less money, the resulting competition opportunities, developing extracurricular basketball activities hinder.4 the school can not rich girls basketball competition and development form is single in the spare time, affect the enthusiasm.5 holidays school basketball activities carried out less, the campus basketball venue during the holiday season opening less. Further studies show that the related factors affecting the development of high school basketball in Zhengzhou city as the degree of attention and reform efforts have authorities lack; teachers’ comprehensive quality and teaching methods need to be improved; basketball competition form campus monotone, venues and equipment deficiencies; after-school basketball training organization propaganda is not perfect; the school basketball team daily training is not systematic; six aspects of contest funds shortage of funds etc..
