| Gymnastics specialized selective course is an improving course, which is based on the gymnastics general selective courses and aiming at enriching the gymnastics theory knowledge, deepening the cultivation of teaching, training and research abilities. It is not only the main course of high school assigned by Ministry of Education, but also the major content of middle school physical education curriculum. Therefore, it is of great meanings to do research in the current situation and work on the further reformation of gymnastics specialized selective course of the physical education colleges in Henan province.This research project takes six physical education colleges in Henan province as the research object. With the methods of literature review, expert interview, questionnaire, mathematical statistics, the current situation of the gymnastics specialized course in Physical Education College is studied in order to get an understanding of the current situation, find the advantages and disadvantages existing in the curriculum settings, analyze the reasons and get some suggestions, so that it will help promoting the gymnastics specialized course teaching reformation, and cultivating versatile talent people. Besides, it also offers a basis and reference for the reasonable gymnastics curriculum setting. The conclusions drawn from the investigation are as follows:(1)Faculty situation:teachers with high education background are relatively less in the six colleges; the professional qualifications are relatively low; the age is generally reasonable, but there is imbalance between men and women; sportsman and referee are of relative low level; there is a big difference in the teaching age among teachers; the further education and extra training offered to teachers are less.(2)Textbook utilization situation:1 college does not have textbook and though the other five colleges have textbooks, they are not up to date, and there is no special textbook for gymnastics specialized course.(3)Situation of curriculum object:the six colleges focus on the primary knowledge, skills and techniques, which are all about the primary abilities for a physical education teacher. And the other abilities’ cultivation is neglected.(4)Teaching content situation.The content is not arranged properly, and it cannot satisfy the requirement of the development of society and students. Most teachers put more emphasis on theory and students do not have many opportunities to take part in practical practices.(5)Credit hours of Gymnastics specialized selective course and semester arrangement situation:the six colleges have different semesters. The most is 5, while the least is 2. And there are five colleges that have relative less credit hours.(6)Teaching method and organizing pattern situation:the current teaching method is simple and old, and all of them teaching male and female together and individualized instruction.(7)Evaluation and assessment situation:mainly use the process evaluation and combination of summative evaluation, the six colleges evaluate the course from the usual performance, theory grade, technical grade and practice grade at different proportions.(8)Field and facilities situation:teachers and students are not satisfied with the teaching facilities because the facilities are old and some are not working. Some playgrounds in some colleges are used with different sports, which make the gymnastics specialized selective course difficult to take place.As to the above problems, some suggestions are put forward.(1)Pay more attention to the education background, the professional qualifications and sportsman and referee levels, and increase the further education and extra training opportunities.(2)Make special teaching materials and textbooks for the gymnastics. Pay more attention to cultivating the various abilities of students. Arrange the gymnastics teaching content based on the requirements of students and the society, and provide more opportunities to participate practical practices.(3)Increase the credit hours of the course and arrange the number of semester properly.(4)The teaching method should be changed from centralized to diversified, and focus on the assessment of practical ability.(5)College leaders should pay attention to gymnastics teaching and improve the teaching facilities. |
