With the increasing improvement of Quality Education and the deepening of primary education curriculum reform, our national primary education is in a critical period of reformation and transformation. As an educating agent for popularizing the historical scholarship to the high school students, the high school historical textbooks' compling and writing has been paid more and more attention by the historical educators.The key issue of the textbooks is the structure, i.e.how the differents parts of the textbooks were constructed and what the relationships they were.In order to have the historical textbooks finely complied and well utilized, it is necessary to have a systematic study of its structure.My thesis is to have a study of the structure of the high school textbooks, methodologically, I applied the structure-functional theory to my study, with a combination of the basic principles of education theories,teaching theories and some specifics of the textbooks. Plus, This study is done from a comparative perspective, several typical comtemporary textbooks from Mainland China, Hongkong and Taiwan were selected, and were both chronologically and geographically compared in their high school textbooks' structural change from 1990s till now, discussed what kind of changes, the causes of the changes and how to design the high school historical textbooks' structure in Mainland China, Hongkong and Taiwan.Moreover, this study is to find out the similarities and differences among the historical textbooks in these areas, and hope to acquire some rules, which may be helpful for the compiling of historical textbooks in the future.
