Traditional researchers treated teaching as a special instructing process and neglected its socially interactive character. Thus the importance of communication in teaching was overlooked. However, with the development of basic curriculum reform, educators have begun to study the fundamental meaning of teaching and put more and more emphasis on communication, which reflects the active participation of student and the interaction in teaching.Teaching is a specific communication process that involves the understanding and creative thinking of the students. This process is especially important in Chinese literature class, in which the teacher is required to create a harmonious atmosphere.Currently, most study of communication lies only on a theoretical level and its meaning is not practically specific. Hence, the major task of this thesis is to put theory into practice for teaching process and relationship. From the general concept of communication, the author introduces the its precise concept in teaching and explains the origin, development, character and structure of "communication in teaching". After that, through the existing research results and her own empirical study of communication in high school Chinese literature class, the author points out the phenomenon of insufficient communication which initiated this study. Based on the theoretical study, the author uses several examples to analyze different types of communication in Chinese literature teaching and their outer symbols. These examples are thoroughly studied to display the communications between students and text, between tutor and students, and within the students.
