In the recent years the private education of our country has been developing greatly, the private institutions of higher education which take on the private higher education also make notable progress either on the scale or on the quality of running school. China's private education has been an important constitution of the Chinese higher education. However, at present with the good and the bad being mixed up and developing unevenly, their imagines as a whole are not very good. As most of them being small in size, low in level, unstable in the team of teachers, weak in the operation and management, poor in the conditions of running school, their strength for succeeding development is obviously insufficient. Furthermore, parts of the private institutions of higher education have the idea of pursuing the profit, these conditions seriously prevent the level of the operation and management and the development the private institutions of higher education in China.In the 21 century, under the background of economic globalization and rapid growth in both China's economy and society, the popularization of higher education is an impersonal trend, and beyond doubt this trend will bring new opportunities and space of development for the private colleges and universities. Facing the opportunities brought forth by the popularization of higher education and industrialization of education, how the private colleges and universities grasp the opportunities and promote the level of the operation and management to quicken their development is becoming especially important.This thesis consists of five parts as follows:Part one: the research on the question of development of the private colleges and universities. It mainly clears up its character. Part two: the research on the operation of the private colleges and universities. It tells about this thesis from the charge, the cost and the profit. Part three: the research on the students enrolled and employed of the private colleges and universities. It mainly concludes how to set up majors and lessons, how to promote the rate of getting a job, therefore train useful talents for our country. Part four: the research on the SWOT analysis and the choice of the developmental strategy of the private colleges and universities. This part mainly makes use of the SWOT analysis of Strategy Management, analyzing the opportunities and the threats, the strengths and the weakness, and drawing up the developmental strategies being benefit to the private colleges and universities. Part five: the research on the measures of the operation and management of the private colleges and universities. After a detailed analysis of the internal conditions and the external surroundings, this part carries out the research from aspects such as education quality, distinguishing features, innovation as well as operation & management to provide ways of thinking and proposals for the development of private colleges and universities.
