Contemporary Chinese college Students are in the development phase of the socialist market economy and the opening up policy, when they need to face many new issues and problems under the complex social reality and the transition from the old system to the new one. Requirements for students'higher quality and new challenge to College Ideological and Political Education emerge in the new social environment which induces significant changes to people's values, ethics, lifestyle, etc. Achieving the function of College Ideological and Political Education lies in the ways to help college students correctly understand the rapid changes, the phenomenon and the problems of the society, and also the ideas in dealing with all of these problems.At present, China's Ideological and Political Education takes many forms; Ideological and Political Education curriculum is established; reform measures keep being strengthening; many breakthroughs have been made and the education work is fruitful. However, the college students group's problems are numerous and their personalities are also diversified, to which the fundamental role of Ideological and Political Education has not been fully exploited and there are still many weak links in the areas of Ideological and Political Education. For example, many college students do not attach much importance to ideological and political theory courses; there are still some limitations of the knowledge structures of the teachers; there is much room to improve for the propaganda work and the education is not timely and accurately enough; College Ideological and Political Education and Moral Education in primary and secondary schools are not coherent enough, and there are even vacuum in some areas; the cooperation and interaction of the administrative authorities in charge of Ideological and Political Education still needs to be improved; college education doesn't fully meet the needs of family and society, and its social impact is relatively weak; Ideological and Political Education doesn't come along with the social reality in some aspects, as a result of which, preventive and targeted education has not been made to adjust to students'changing needs.System approach is a way to use system analysis to reach the best results of problems dealing, which reveals the nature and the movement characteristics of objects by analyzing the relationships of the system and its elements, certain elements and other ones, and the system and its external environment. This paper holds that Ideological and Political Education should make use of the system approach to solve its problems. Ideological and Political Education is a systematic project. Apart from maintaining harmony development with other social systems, as an independent system, its inner elements should also seek harmonious development.The paper discusses the topic in three chapters. The first chapter puts forward the necessity of building the Resultant Force Mechanism of Ideological and Political Education by analyzing the current social situation, the new requirements for all-around development, and the realization of the functions of Ideological and Political Education. The paper holds that the function problem of the Ideological and Political Education can be better solved by realizing the horizontal linkage in college, vertical linkage between college and primary and secondary schools, and the linkage in the society as a whole. The second chapter starts with analyzing some fundamental concepts and expounds on the fundamental content and ideas of building the Resultant Force Mechanism of Ideological and Political Education. It is studied basing on the System Theory and Holism, the resultant force from which is helpful to improving the current situation of Ideological and Political Education. The third chapter analyzes the problems in building the Resultant Force Mechanism of Ideological and Political Education, to which some tentative measures are put forward.The paper holds that without the overall performance of the Ideological and Political Education, the students'potential can be fully cultivated. In order to achieve huge educational impact, various educational factors need to be considered and integrated, and the purpose, content, ways, and methods of the Ideological and Political Education should be entirely designed, planned and operated. At present, factors influencing the timeliness of the Ideological and Political Education are rooted in three aspects:college, family and society, the roles of which shouldn't be underestimated. The colleges'modern Ideological and Political Education should not be confined to the closed education system. So it is highly urgent to make full use of the resources from college, family and society to build their harmonious interaction mechanism, coordination and cooperation mechanism, and resultant force mechanism.Ideological and Political Education is a whole structure consisting of multiple factors, and yet is a dynamic process of interaction between multiple factors. To make Ideological and Political Education more effective, a variety of educational resources need to be utilized to form an interconnected network to ensure its coverage to family, society and college. Therefore, in a nutshell, it is not only the colleges'responsibilities but also the whole society's to offer a high-quality Ideological and Political Education to the college students. Only the whole society does its utmost, can it provide the solid safeguard to the creating of the educational resultant force.
