Reliability assessment for the complex system plays an important role in the area of industries and military industries. The complex system has multilayer components and sufficient test data for the components, but the test samples for the whole system are tend to be small. If we assess the reliability of the complex system using the traditional approach, we would meet many difficulties. Using the Bayesian approach, we can solve most of the problems resulted from small sample. Therefore, we have studied the system reliability assessment based on the Bayesian method, and redesigned the System Bayesian Reliability Assessment software (SBRA.). This dissertation focused on the problems of the demand analysis and software design of the SBRA.The dissertation contains four parts. First, the dissertation introduces briefly the basic concepts, the basic principles and the steps of the software engineering and the object-oriented approach. Second, it collected and analyzed the needs to the SBRA in details. To meet the practical needs, the SBRA must include the object tree, the diagram of the reliability, the reliability data and the database, the data pretreatment, the unit reliability assessment, the systemic reliability assessment, the characteristic demands, the environmental demands and the safe demands. Third, the dissertation constructed three models for the SBRA following the demands. The three models are the object model, the dynamic model and the function model. With the help of the models, the dissertation analyzed the relationships among the objects of the SBRA, the control relationships of the SBRA, and the functions of the SBRA components. At last, the dissertation redesigned the SBRA components detailed based on the demand analysis and the models.
