High-speed machining (HSM) technology is one of the advanced manufacture technologies, which basic characteristic is the high efficiency and the high accuracy. Now it has been a mainstream of cutting technologies in the developed country, and has been abroad applied in lots of industries such as Mold, Aviation and Space, and has become the main approach for manufacturing to enhance efficiency and quality and reduce cost of products. However, as a new cutting method, handbooks of process parameters are still not provided for HSM, neither enough ripe formed machining crafts nor processing examples referred. The choice of cutting parameters, when high-speed cutting processing is doing, mainly depended on the workers experience, or carried on massive cutting trials, so it results in the huge waste.The present main questions of HSM applications are how to reasonably choose the cutting tool materials, which match with the work piece materials, and the reasonable machining craft parameters, in order to obtain the best surface quality, to lengthen the cutting tool life, to enhance the productivity, and to reduce the product costs, it is key to research and develop the database of High-speed machining. So it is an important practicality task to research how to design the database which suits for High-speed machining in machine industry.In the process of metal machining, the machining quantity of hole is commonly 1/3 of all machining, which occupies an important position, especially in engine industry. Along with popular application of HSM technology, building a database of HSM on holes machining is becoming more and more important. This paper works on researching and developing the database system of High-speed hole machining, which combined with machining cases, machining craft parameters and experiences on the hole machining of some companies.This paper was based on the research of the theory on high-speed hole machining techniques, parameters and the matching relations on high-speed hole machining ( which included the matching of cutting tool materials and materials, the matching of the geometry angles of cutting tools, work piece and cutting tool materials, and the matching of cutting parameters, work piece and machining requires), then discussing the function structure and the modularizing design, packed up the require information to found the system, designed thedatabase structure, and developed the High-speed hole machining database system based on cases related to the produce status quo of the flexible plant in Kunming Yunnei Power Co., Ltd.It proves that when there is no authoritatively mathematical model of choosing rightly cutting tool materials, geometry angles of cutting tools and cutting parameters, and query rapidly high-speed hole machining craft projects and cutting parameters per working procedure, the High-speed hole machining database system could help choose the right tool materials, geometrical angle and cutting dosage etc. and moreover it is far-reaching signification to research on and spread the theory and application of high-speed machining technology.
