The chip MB86373 is used to decode digital video signal. After the stream isprocessed by the ASIC, the output is analog video signal and digital audio signal. Becausethe video signal is analog signal, video signal only need to amplified and then put to A/Vconnector. We can watch the PAL or NTSC signal on the monitor. The audio signal isdigital signal so that we need to use D/A converter followed by the A/V connector. The FPGA device played an important role in the system. The logic circuit is servedby the FPGA device. After the control logic transformed by the FPGA, the PS stream candirectly put to the decode ASIC and then decoded by the chip. The MCU can access theASIC via the HIF bus, while the HIF bus is simulated by the FPGA. And with the help ofFPGA, the MCU can access the PCM and other chips. The program writen by assemblelanguage in the MCU configs the system via I2C bus connected to FPGA. Under thecontrol of the MCU, the system can work at the expected state. The resourse of theMPEG2 signal comes from an encode system. This system can be configed by one serialinterface controlled by the host. We must comply to the communication protocol on thehost when seeding the control message. And we need to control the encode system by theserial interface to make the output stream to accord with the decode system's requirement.
