Oracle Database Performance Tuning

Performance tuning plays an important part in maintenance for large database servers,the many kinds of method is used generally, e.g. improving the quality of hardware device and network device or improving bandwidth to reduce response time. But , this is phasize and high cost.Performance tuning and optimization of database systems, which concern multiple aspects, are very vital to the normal running of the whole system. We can improve the stability and availability of database, guarantee its high running efficiency, solve system bottleneck, reduce system overhead, obtain considerable applicability and in the meanwhile, provide some guidelines for theoretical research through a unified plan and systematical analysis to make appropriate adjustment.Based on the above-mentioned idea, by virtue of the practice of developing order query subsystem of a typical goods management information system and the experience of using Oracle 9i, the paper principally pays attention to the research on the performance tuning and optimization problems of SQL statements, memory allocation of Oracle and disc I/O, etc., and makes a deep analysis and discuss. It suggests in general some performance tuning strategies and optimization approaches of Oracle application systems to drive the development of Oracle performance management and optimization technology.Firstly, the paper introduces the corresponding research background of performance tuning of database, significance of selected topic and framework of performance tuning and optimization of database including their concepts, performance evaluation index and primary aspects of optimization.Secondly, it elaborates on some optimization technologies such as optimization of SQL query statement, memory allocation and tuning of Oracle, creation of index, disc division of Oracle. It also compares these optimization technologies and summarizes some pragmatic optimization approaches and tips for performance improvement of system.Finally, based on order query subsystem of a typical goods management information system, the paper adopts corresponding performance optimization technologies to optimize concrete instances. Through a large amount of experiments, it compares and analyzes performance evaluation index before and after using every optimization technology, and in the meantime, proposes some concrete performance tuning approaches and strategies.
