In seismic interpretation, identification and tracking of the stratigraphic positions is very important. Due to the corresponding relationship between geological layers and events on the seismic profiles, the continuous events tracking on the actual seismic records become the prerequisite for obtaining effective stratigraphic position.The events tracking is the process which tracks and identifies the same interface reflected waves by utilizing the dynamic and kinematic characteristics of effective waves on the seismic recorder. By the efforts of many researchers, they find the way to obtain the event tracking trajectory finally. These algorithms track the events trajectory, three of which are the linear interpolation method, the correlation method and 256-level grayscale segmentation method that are simpler and easier to be implemented, and that effectively track the trajectory curves of seismic events.In recent years, geophysical researchers have developed the visualization technology of seismic data based on the QT platform. It provides convenience for the algorithm which realizes tracking of the events based on QT platform. Furthermore, seismic interpreters can track the events more exactly and efficiently by using this technology. In this paper, automatic events extraction procedures are embed in QT platform, which are formed by the linear interpolation method, the correlation method and 256-level grayscale segmentation method; A module of QT platform is established for the automatic events extraction , interactive editing and the layer data extraction.Firstly, this paper introduces the technique and methods of the seismic horizon picking. Secondly, it explains the basic principle of the three algorithms and the simulation of every method picking seismic events, and does the numerical experiment for the practical seismic data to test the feasibility and accuracy of automatic horizon picking on the three methods. Thirdly, in this paper, automatic extraction procedures which are formed by three methods are embed in the QT platform; A module of QT platform is detailed. Finally, two seismic profiles are vertical, horizons of which are automatically extracted, misclosure of whose infall examines the module of QT platform, and evaluates effect which is that the linear interpolation method, the correlation method and 256-level grayscale segmentation method track the trajectory curves of seismic events.After it is that tests modules of automatically developed horizen picking, three algorithms track the seismic events trajectory. The linear interpolation method tracking level events trajectory is simple and easier to be implemented; When seismic data is lost or there are some faultages, the correlation method tracking events trajectory needs interpolation in the region; 256-level grayscale segmentation method picking seismic events is low efficiency when seismic data is large.
