The black strata is apt to fast weather because its mineral composition includes pyrite. Then, the structure of the black strata will be destroyed and the mineral composition of the black strata will be changed and the acidic environmental water will be produced. During that process, the mineral composition near black strata also will be eroded and its engineering property will change worse.Firstly, the thesis takes the mineral and chemical composition identification after the investigation and sampling. Then, the geochemical characteristics has been obtained, which can provide the basis for researching the failure of the weathered black strata thoroughly.Secondly, the thesis by collecting the worked research takes a deep recognition on the mechanism of the weathering failure of the black strata. It analyzes the weathering process of the black strata and also gives the mineral changes and failure made by the acidic water.Finally, the thesis from the inner reasons of the mineral composition changed, radically search for the reasons why the black strata has the weak engineering geological properties. This thesis analyzes the mechanism of the weathering failure of the black strata from the perspective of the mineral changes and the structure damage. All what has done not only provides the theoretic basis for the disaster prevention which generated by the weathering black strata but also point out the feasible treatment direction.
