In this paper, a practical expression of hydrogen dipole oscillator strength which only includes two principal quantum numbers n and n′was derived by use of factorization method and properties related to the raising and lowering operators of orbital angular-momentum quantum number. And this provides a theoretical solution for the summation of orbital angular-momentum quantum number in the calculation of oscillator strength. Then a series of hydrogen dipole oscillator strengths were calculated, the results agree with the values have been reported in relevant documents and lots of new values of oscillator strengths were also obtained. According to the derived expression, expressions for line intensities and average lifetime of energy level of hydrogen atom were derived, these simplify calculations of this kind effectively. Similarly, hydrogen related line intensities and average lifetime of energy level were calculated and the results agree well with the known dates. Moreover, coefficients of Van der Waals interaction between two ground state hydrogen atoms were calculated on the basis of the relationship between oscillator strength and coefficients of Van der Waals of hydrogen atom, this is verified to be a more convenient method.
