Gathering and transportation are the important parts of the offshore oil and gas exploitation. For continuous, fast, large amount and small effects of climate, submarine pipeline has become the main form of offshore oil and gas gathering and transportation. The seabed soil has to supply corresponding resistance to ensure pipeline's stability when it has the tendency of horizontal displacement, whether laid on the seabed or buried in the soil. For naked pipelines, the restrain of seabed includes resistance of friction and passive earth pressure. For buried pipelines, the resistance is related to the soil parameters and buried depth. The mechanism of the pipe-soil interaction is complex. Imperfection existed. Based on the experience, the past most researches import too much suppose and were not efficient. Be short of relative experience and research dates of design and construction at home, it's necessary to research the interaction of submarine pipe-soil.This paper set up submarine pipeline and seabed model using the finite element analysis software ANSYS, and discuss the interaction of pipe-soil on different parameters based on the research of scholars both at home and abroad. The form of pipe laying is buried in the seabed or directly lay on the seabed. This paper first simulate the pipe directly lay on the seabed model; and by changing the pipeline and the soil physical and mechanical parameters, analyse the characteristics of pipeline settlement. Based on the former analysis, the article discusses the soil resistance rule in the circumstances of sand and clay, and compare with the existing theories.A comparative analysis of buried pipe, considering different diameter, weight and laying depth of pipe, is also carried out on the basis of theoretical analysis, aimed at discussing the limited soil resistance rule. At last, the paper summarizes the main purpose of the pipeline laying, laying requirements and the existing machine category.
