In the March to July of 2009 and 2010, the research of Common Kestrel by magpie nests and artificial nest boxes was studied to adjustment clutch size and reproductive effects. The author compared in the Nature protective area of Zuojia, Jilin province. Laying date, clutch size, incubation period, hatching period, flight date, flight number and so the comparison, analysis of the resource change on Kestrel nest clutch size adjustment and the reproduction impact.The average first-egg period of Kestrel in magpie nests is earlier than Kestrel in artificial boxes, the difference is significant. The first-egg average period is April 17 and April 20 respectively. Kestrel will change clutch size according the nest resources adjustment. The clutch size of Kestrel in artificial boxes is much higher than Kestrel in magpie nests, The average clutch size of Kestrel in artificial boxes is 5.6±0.9, and the distribution is 3-8. The average clutch size of Kestrel in magpie nests is 5.1±0.7, and the distribution is 4-6. It is significant difference between the average incubation period of Kestrel in magpie nests and in artificial boxes, the incubation period is 23.1±1.2 and 26.7±2.1 respectively. There is no significant difference between brooding rate of Kestrel in magpie nests and in artificial boxes, it's 96.7% and 89.0% respectively. There is no significant difference between brooding period of Kestrel in magpie nests and in artificial boxes, it's 31.1±1.4 and 32.0±1.5 respectively. The difference of flight rate of Kestrel in magpie nests and in artificial boxes is not significant, it's 96.7% and 89.0% respectively. The breeding success of Kestrel in magpie nests is a little higher than Kestrel in artificial boxes, it's 76.2% and 72.2% respectively.
