With the development of machining toward to high-speed and high-precision, machine tools'dynamic characteristics must be improved higher and higher. To study the dynamic characteristics of machine tools, the dynamic model must be established, and its difficulty lies in building the joint model. Because the dynamic characteristics of joint have great affect on dynamic performance of whole structure of machine tool, it's important to study the dynamic characteristics of the joint for dynamic design and optimization of machine tools. Rolling guide is the most essential parts of the machine tool, and it's also the typical rolling joint. So identifying dynamic characteristic parameters of rolling guide's joint is studied in this thesis.Firstly, rolling guide was simplified according to its structure and characteristics. The measuring model of equivalent single DOF system that used to identify dynamic characteristic parameters of rolling guide's joint was established. The model eliminated the influence of the basic displacement on parameter identification. Based on the measuring model, the measuring device for identifying the dynamic characteristic parameters of rolling guide was designed and developed. The design requirements were considered comprehensively in the design scheme, such as vibration stability, stiffness, generality and the installation condition of rolling guide.Secondly, based on the measuring model, the test results was inspected from the mode shape of the system, the transfer function of measuring points and the transfer function of equivalent single DOF system. The identified dynamic characteristic parameters of rolling guide's joint were introduced in the finite element model of the measuring device. The FEA modal results and the experiment results had good consistency.At last, the modal experiments were carried out for part specifications rolloing guides of YIGONG CHINA and Schneeberger under the identifying system of dynamic characteristic parameters of rolling guide's joint. The effect of many contributory factors on dynamic stiffness and damping parameters of rolling guide's joint was obtained through the result analysis. These factors included normal load, preload level, rolling-element type and slipper type. Overall, a certain number of dynamic stiffness and damping parameters with high precision of rolling guide were obtained through the experimental modal analysis, and the work provided conditions for accurate analysis of dynamic characteristics of machine tools.
