The research has showed that:the development of the friction material after the quenching treatment, can meet the practical application of the material hardness and strength requirements. But accordingly, the ductility and toughness are greatly reduced, and unstable quenched structure spontaneously converted to a more stable organization. This will affect the performance of materials and dimensional stability. Furthermore, the internal stress of hardened steel is in large memory and easy to make a sudden crack or deformation of the workpiece. Therefore, the friction structure of hardened steel must be tempered with appropriate temperature to change the quenched organization to eliminate the quenching stress for stable parts of the shape and size, and adjust and improve the microstructure and properties of steel. The main contents of this study are:after quenching and tempering the friction material, scanning microstructure images, measuring the hardness, comparing with the original organization and hardness of quenched organization with experimental data.
