Calixarenes were the third generation supermolecule after crown ether and cyclodextrin. Due to their easy functionalization and strong complexing properties towards cations, anions and neutral molecules, they have received particular interests by numerous chemists in recent years. Functional calixarenes have been applied successfully to biomimetic research and separation science and technology. Four kinds of calyx [4]arene and its derivatives were synthesized and their performance of coordinated copper, zinc, lead, manganese, cadmium, Ni and its derivatives were studied too. This thesis include the following main points:1 The new schiff base derivative of class calix [4] arene 3 were synthesized by reaction of the hydrazide derivative of p-tert-butyl calix[4]arene with glucopyranoside and its yield got to 37.6% respectively. Their structure was confirmed by 1H NMR,13C NMR, IR, MS.2 The five kinds of p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene metal complexes were synthesized by reaction of the L1,L2,L3 with copper and zinc. From the elements analysis, determination of contents of metal, IR, UV and MS.The compositions of the compounds of la and 1b were H2L1(CuAc)2,H2L1(ZnAC)2. Other complexes were characterized by determination of contents of metal, IR and UV.3 Through UV spectrophotometry experiment, the molecular recognition characteristics of the compounds L1,L2,L3 to six transition metal ions (Cu(Ⅱ),Zn(Ⅱ),Pb(Ⅱ),Mn(Ⅱ),Cd(Ⅱ),Ni(Ⅱ))were studied. The results showed that the compound L1 had the function of molecular recognition to six transition metal ions, the L2 had only molecular recognition to copper, the L3 had no effect.4 The fluorescence property of L1 and zinc coordination compound was determined and the method of quantitative detection zinc (II) was initially established. The results showed that the concentration of zinc ion had good linear relationship with the fluorescence intensity when concentration was within 4×10-6mol/~L4×10-5mol/L.
