With the development of productivity and promotion of industrialization, China's environmental problem has become increasingly severe. In the city, urbanization, population growth and concentration, introduction and expansion of industrial all give pressure to the lake environment. Currently, water pollution of urban lakes has been very serious, which causes concerns of the community; the Government has made great effort to find a solution, but the effect is unsatisfactory.The study focuses on water pollution of urban lakes, analyzes the case of Wuhan city on economic perspective. This paper discusses the properties of public goods and external effects in urban lakes, compared forces and interactions of interrelated economic entities. It also analyzes the pollution of Wuhan lakes and classic cases of water pollution on urban lakes. Finally, it gives the city lake pollution countermeasures from an economic point of view.
