Expectations And Perception Of The Safety Of Tourists In The Coastal Tourist Comparative Study

Security is the basic requirement of tourists, and tourist security is the most important factor for the long-term development of coastal tourism. As seeking advantages and avoiding disadvantages is the result of human natural selection, the security perception of coastal tourist destinations often largely determines the tourist travel decisions. In the wake of 21st century, tourism safety and security has become the focus of national academic research. Tourism which is a service industry provides services for tourists. Only by proceeding from the safety needs of tourists and improving their security perception can we better serve them. This study aims to find a breakthrough in strengthening tourism security through the differences between tourist security expectation and perception, and then improve tourist safety perception, finally promote the sustainable development of coastal tourism.First of all, this study does literature review and summary on travel security, coastal resorts, and coastal tourists safety expectation and perception on the basis of previous studies. It also defines some concepts, such as tourist security expectation and perception.Second, in order to form an initial scale of this research, the author does selection and addition in accordance to the need of this study by combining the characteristics of coastal resorts and being based on relevant studies both at home and abroad. In addition, the author draws a measurement scale of coastal tourist security expectation and perception by the Delphi Method. Index system is divided into six dimensions, natural environment security, social environment security, entertainment activity security, traffic security, medical and health security, and accommodation security. for a total of 29 single parameters.Furthermore, according to the index system established by this study, the author evaluates the tourist security expectation and perception of the coastal resort Xiamen. It uses T test, IPA, ANOVA and many other analysing methods to make analysis on measured data. Finally, it reaches to the following conclusions: tourists' expectation of first-grade index is higher than their own perception, and among which the difference between the expectation and perception of entertainment activity security is the greatest; except for climate conditions, tourists' expectation of second-grade index is higher than their own perception;except for sex, the differences in tourist demographic characteristics, spatial distances and tourist destination have obvious effects on coastal tourist security expectation and perception; from the dimension of first-grade index, the tourist'expectation of entertainment activity security is more higher than perception,from the view of second-grade single index, there are five parameters problems for Xiamen as a coastal resort to solve urgently, rescue devices conditions, crowded circumstances in scenic spots, security conditions of entertainment equipment, setting conditions of life-saving equipment in entertainment activities, and the conditions of professional rescue personnel.Finally, the author summarizes the paper. According to the comparative studies on tourist security expectation and perception, the author proposes some strategies and suggestions on improving coastal tourist security perception. At the end of the the paper, the author states innovations of the research ,and rationally summarized and reviewed the restrictions of this research, and also prospects the research in the future...
