In order to improve the dimension stability and surface coating performance of wood, enhance surface protection for wood, extend the service life of wood products, expand applications of fast-growing poplar, this paper mainly use orthogonal experimental method, soak fast-growing poplar specimens in low melting point alloy in different temperature, time and pressure, obtaining optimal processing parameters, and then observe the microstructure of treated wood, study properties, such as dimensional stability, full shrinkage, water absorption, compressive strength parallel to grain, film adhesion and so on. The results are as follows:1. In the influence factors, pressure and pressure-keeping time have significant influence on dipping effect. But, temperature's effect is not so significant. Dipping effect becomes more significant as pressure increases and the holding time grows. Optimal processing parameters are 0.5 Mpa,85℃,1h.2. Through observing the microstructure of treated wood under atmospheric pressure and room temperature, we found alloy still exist in the solid form, mainly in treated wood's catheter and cell lumen, showing bright silver spots in the cross section and bright long silver filaments in the longitudinal section.3. The dimension stability of the treated poplar has been improved. The moisture absorption decreased. The moisture absorption rate became lower significantly. As the density of the treated poplar increases, rate of wet resistance increases. Three indexes of MEE, ASE in radial and tangential direction have been improved in various degree. ASE in tangential direction is by 1.2 times to 4 times higher than that in radial.4. The treated wood's compressive strength parallel to grain is by 1.5times higher than the untreated wood's. The treated wood's compressive strength parallel to grain increases as the density grows. Both of them have a good linear regression. Correlation coefficient R2 is 0.9375. Regression equation is y=8.1633x+41.507.5. Treated wood's contact angle increased a lot compared with untreated wood. The surface free energy of treated wood dropped to some extent. Wetting property of treated wood decreased. Whether the treated wood or the untreated wood, the contact angle and time have a good Index regression relation. Compared with untreated wood, film adhesion of treated wood got a higher level. After anti-aging treatment, the treated poplar still had a higher level of film adhesion.
