In this thesis, polymer resin enhanced method and patching technique were used for recycling waste thermosetting plastic Styrene Acrylonitrile (SAN) to form building panels by hot compression moulding. Epoxy resin E-44, Epoxy resin 604, Polyvinylchloride (PVC), Polypropylene (PP) and Thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) composited SAN panels were compared by their mechanical property and water resistance. With the method of FTIR and SEM, a possible mechanism was proposed. Moreover, patching technique with paper and unsaturated polyester were tested for its availability.Results showed that the most appropriate processing condition of recycling waste SAN by hot compression moulding was that, heating temperature was 177/170℃, processing pressure was 15 MPa, holding time was 15 min, getting the panel with density of 1.05±0.02 g/cm3. During polymer resin enhanced method, the composited panel of 15wt% TPU mixed with SAN granules achieved the best property, 10.29±0.17 KJ/m~2 of impact strength, 478.23±16.55 MPa of flexural strength, and 123.42±5.89 MPa of compression strength. As for the different decentralized way of polymer resin in composited panel, the sandwish structure of SAN with TPU was demonstrated the best and desired properties, 23.92±3.39 KJ/m~2 of impact strength, 599.12±14.23 MPa of flexural strength, and 118.56±7.21 MPa of compression strength. In the method of patching technique, masking-patching got the best properties, 11.70±1.34 KJ/m~2 of impact strength, 691.24±12.00 MPa of flexural strength, and 83.78±4.56 MPa of compression strength. Finally, in the consideration of cost, processing condition and the comprehensive property, TPU reinforcement has the great potential in economy, environment, and society.
