With the development of the automotive industry, the demand for gear billet increases constantly. Improving the gear billet production efficiency and shortening the process &die design cycle will bring huge economic benefits. Fast upset forging using multistage automatic production equipment, increases the gear billet production efficiency geatly, and it is suitable for gear billet mass production. Meanwhile, computer-aided process design system which is meet the actual needs of enterprise can greatly reduce the labour intensity ,and improve the design efficiency and production capacity.This paper has developed"Gear Billet Die Forging CAPP System". The development of the system based on AutoCAD which is widely used among enterprises;The interface,database and system program were developed with Delphi;Graphics rendering and forgings volume calculation program were developed with VB;Data storage and management is using Access relation database. System adopt modularization development, that master program and drawing program are different modules,they exchange data through database.The system classifiy the parts according to their shape.And the information input,forging and process design,die design are based on the shape classification.In this way,the development of the software is simplified and efficiency is improved. Based on the motion law of dies on the fast upset equipment and the manipulator,system finishes the sequential design by program,and gets the optimization of the open time of the manipulator.The system can quickly finish the process&die design of gear billet fast upset forging,closed-die forging and open-die forging, and generate engineering drawings which conform to the enterprise standard.With the use of the system, more than a week work of process&die design and drawing can reduced to only several hours.
