With the increasing environmental awareness and laws, environmental-friendly coatings came into being, in which waterborne coatings is most widely used. In recent years, coating technology has been innovated significantly. Our goal is to develope high-performance, non-polluting, low-cost waterborne coatings. Phosphate ester is an excellent surfactant, which has been widely used in waterborne coatings. Phosphate ester can improve the coating's adhesion, corrosion resistance and so on. Therefore, phosphate ester used in water-based coatings to improve the overall performance of coatings is the focus of our research.The purpose of this research is to use functional phosphate ester to improve the overall performance of waterborne coatings. This research includes Preparation of functional phosphate monomer, Synthesis of waterborne acrylic core-shell latex, Preparation of waterborne acrylic coatings and two-comp onent coatings. 1. Propose a method of preparation of functional phosphate ester with acrylate hydroxyl-ester and phosphorus pentoxide under the certain condition. The strueture of functional phosphate ester was determined through the test of FIR.2. Introduce the functional monomer into the core-shell acrylic latex to participare in copolymerization reaction. The best prescription was determined through testing the performance of adhesion, water resistance, cohesion rate, stability and so on. The strueture of core-shell acrylic latex was determined through the test of FIR, TEM, Particle Size Analyzer.3. Waterbone acrylic coating was prepared based on the core-shell acrylic latex.The influence factors and optimum formulatinn of the coating was also determined. Through the tests, the maximum lasting time for salt-water resistance test of the coating film exeeeded 720 hours.4. The two-component coatings was mixed by waterbone acrylic coating and commercially anticorrosive coating. Through testing the performance of adhesion, dry time, corrosion and so on, the two-component coatings has been significantly improved and achieved satisfactory results.
