Fertilizer plant of Jilin Petrochemical Company used to utilize original high-pressure cobalt method to produce OXO. This OXO plant technology imported from Germany's BASF Corporation in 1976, and it was put into operation in 1982. With the development of foreign OXO technology, compared with modern low-pressure liquid circulation OXO Technology, the high-pressure cobalt method was a backward technology, such as high consumption of raw materials and utilities, high costs of the products, lack of market competitiveness. To balance of 300,000 tons/year ethylene and propylene production for Jilin Chemical Company, through the factory and company fully demonstrate; transform the original method of high pressure cobalt OXO production technology. In 2000, the Fertilizer plant of Jilin Petrochemical Company expanded the original high-pressure OXO production technology by DAVY/UCC cycle of the second generation of low-pressure liquid OXO Technology.After transformation, the OXO production process contained a large amount of lye, the content of organic matter was high, CODCr concentration was 30000-130000mg/L. If the organic matter discharges with wastewater, it will cause pollution or damage to the environment, and waste of useful resources.In this paper, based on reference to domestic waste water treatment technology and related information, I insist that acid extraction method with high concentrations of OXO is a very effective way of wastewater treatment. Acidification is a prerequisite for extraction, because the sodium butyrate in wastewater can alkaline into butyric acid by acidification, and it also can lower the extractant solubility in water, so acid extraction method with high concentrations of OXO can improve the extraction efficiency. After separate organic matter from OXO organic condensation water by acidification, biodegradability of wastewater will increase. Acidification to pH 2, the elimination rate of COD can reach 77%, transforms the bad biodegradability of wastewater into good biodegradability. When the OXO condensation wastewater acidifies to pH 2, the COD removal rate reached 54.61%though extraction. Then the remaining aqueous has the second biochemical treatment, and COD removal rate will reach 90%full after the whole process.
