In this paper, the preparation of ultra-pure tetrabutylammonium hydroxide (TBAH) using tetrabutylamonium bromide(TBAB) as raw material had been studied.At first, the preparation of tetrabutylammonium hydroxide (TBAH) was carried out in an electrolyser with tri-chambers and bi-membranes,the current efficiency reached the maximum when the current density was 1000A·m-2 and concentration of the raw material was 1.7mol·L-1. The purification of the product in a divided cell separated by cation exchange membrane was also investigated.The contents of Br- and Cl" in 0.3017mol/L TBAH solution which purified in three times by electrolysis were 0.0061 mg·kg-1 and 0.3106 mg·kg-1 respectively.And the contents of Br- and Cl- in 0.6222mol-L"1 TBAH solution were 0.1231 mg-kg-1 and 0.9148 mg-kg-1 respectively, after TBAH was purified by three times in electrolyser with tetra-chambers and tri-membranes.The method of the combination of cation exchange resins and electrolysis was set up to purify TBAB. Content of Na+ in 0.74mol·L-1 TBAB was low to 8.75μg·kg-1. The results showed that the capacity of the resin was increased.The trace ions in the samples were tested by Ion chromatography. The precision of this analysis method is high, and its linear correlation is good.
